The Lord Of The Rings
When I was a child, my dad always tried to get me to read the Lord Of The Rings books that he had on his bookshelf. I was an avid reader, and I was often out of new things to read. I tried to read the first one, but much to his dismay, I couldn’t get into it. I don’t think they are bad stories, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movies that came along years later, but for some reason I couldn’t read the books. They may have been too wordy for me, or perhaps I was just put off by the length of the book. I’m really not sure now.
I do know that my dad still have his Lord Of The Rings books, and he has read them many times over. He liked the movies too, but he said that nothing could take the place of the books. I can understand this, as I have seen many movies that have come from book that I have loved. Many of them are good movies, but they cannot capture what I found in the book. There is just too much information in a book that cannot be displayed on a screen. Inner thoughts, reactions, and emotions are hard to show without actually reading them. Because of this, he still loves his Lord Of The Rings Books and I don’t think he’ll ever part with them.
I have been toying with the idea of getting him a new set of Lord Of The Rings books for Christmas this year because the ones he has a worn out. I don’t think he’ll part with the originals because he has had them forever, but perhaps he could put them away for safekeeping. He could read the new volumes if he feels the need without causing any further damage to the Lord Of The Rings books that he has owned for as long as I can remember.
If you know someone who would like the Lord of The Rings books, you may be able to find any old set on eBay, but you may have to pay for them. Many people love these books and won’t part with them. If they do choose to part with them, they expect to get a lot of money in return for them, especially if they are in really good condition. You can find newer copies of the Lord Of The Rings books too, and all you have to do is search the Internet to find many places from which to choose.
