The Vision by Debi Pearl Book Review
Jun 30th, 2009 by DavePF
Debi Pearl is already well known for her child training books such as To Train Up a Child, co-authored with her husband, Michael. Her latest bombshell was Created to Be His Helpmeet, a book presenting truth diametrically opposite of the feminist agenda. It is, instead, a successful attempt to present the role of married women from a purely Biblical perspective. This generated predictable controversy.
Mrs. Pearl has now delved into the realm of fiction with a purpose in her latest book, The Vision. The author acknowledges the story takes place in rural Tennessee where they live and centers on printing and distribution of her husband’s fabulously successful book Good and Evil. In fact, their goal is to translate this book, now colorized, into 100 different languages and distribute it throughout the world.
The Vision may well stir as much controversy as her marriage book. Muslim extremists are plotting to stop the printing and distribution of the illustrated storybook to the Muslim community. The hero, Asher, determines to carry on the work of his mentor in getting the Gospel to Arab Muslims via the Arabic translation of the book. He moves to rural Tennessee where the book is printed and distributed, and where he can work under the protection of the publishers.
The book is based on well-researched facts, including the use of herbal remedies. In the plot, a secret herbal mix is sold to provide money for the book distribution but White Supremacist organizers work to funnel the herbal money for their own purposes.
Next Ashur learns of a major fault extending through Yellowstone Park. If this fault gives way, it would virtually wipe out the country through lava and poisonous ash.
The publishing center also becomes a haven for Magdalene, a woman who had ruined her life in sin but experiences Christian love from the community of ladies. The enemies move closer to their own goals as the Last Publishers continue with their vision, to reach Muslims with the Gospel through the illustrated book.
Debi’s last words summarizing the book are these: “But at the most unexpected moment it seems that the terrorists win. Is it over? Is God in control?” Since this is the first in a series, some things are not resolved making you hungry for the next book.
The Vision by Debi Pearl promises excitement, information, inspiration, and challenge. It may even be prophetic of what we will yet face in America.
