An acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. Everybody has. As a result, it doesn’t really sound that strange that you are what you eat.
Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. There are guidelines, but your progress will largely be trial and error. Watch your skin carefully. Write a journal. You might even want to take pictures using a digital camera once or twice a week. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.
The following guidelines can help get you started on an acne diet:
* 1. Increase your protein intake - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. Oil production is limited from an enzyme located within protein. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts.
* Stay away from carbohydrates. - Don’t cut yourself off completely. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. This is because there are compounds in carbohydrates that can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.
* Consume green tea - If possible, drink the real stuff. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. However, if you can’t stand the stuff, then natural green tea drinks will do. Green tea holds back androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.
* Restrict your salt intake - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” For some with acne, iodine an cause major inflammation.
It is very important to watch what you eat and put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. These being the least likely to aggravate your skin. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. By using mineral makeup you may actually ease acne problems and increase the results of your acne diet.
